Joseph von Quarin 1733-1814

Joseph von Quarin was an Austrian physician born in Vienna. At the age of 15, he obtained his PhD in Vienna, followed by studies of medicine at the University of Freiburg. In 1751 he received his medical doctorate, afterwards returning to Vienna, where in 1754 he attained the title of professor.

Archduke Albrecht of Austria, Duke of Teschen 1817-1895

Archduke Albrecht Friedrich Rudolf Dominik of Austria, Duke of Teschen, was an Austrian Habsburg general. He was the grandson of Emperor Leopold II and one of the chief military advisors of Emperor Francis Joseph I.

Johann Schweikhard von Kronberg 1553-1626


Johann Schweikhard von Kronberg was the third son of Hartmut XIII von Kronburg (1517–1591) and his wife Barbara von Sickingen (1522–1577). His father was an administrator for the Archbishopric of Mainz.
With his older brothers taking over the family’s offices, Johann was destined for a career in the church from an early age. He was elected to the cathedral chapter of Mainz Cathedral at a young age through his father’s influence. He was a canon of St. Alban’s Abbey, Mainz from 1564 to 1566. His uncle, Daniel Brendel von Homburg was Archbishop of Mainz, and sent him to the Collegium Germanicum in Rome. There, he became friends with Johannes Busaeus, who was later a Jesuit theologian teaching at the University of Mainz.

Ludwig Konrad, Graf von Lehrbach 1750-1805

Austrian ambassador in Munich, 1795 ambassador in Berlin, Regensburg and Basel, 1796 sent by the emperor to Tyrol to support the resistance against the French army. Later Austrian envoy to the Rastatt Congress, probably falsely suspected by the Prussian side of being the mastermind of the Rastatt envoy murder, died in 1805

Archduke Charles (baptized Carolus Franciscus Josephus Wenceslaus Balthasar Johannes Antonius Ignatius), the second son of the Emperor Leopold I and of his third wife, Princess Eleonore Magdalene of Neuburg, was born on 1 October 1685.

Karl Philipp, Prince of Schwarzenberg 1771-1820

Karl Philipp, Fürst zu Schwarzenberg was an Austrian Generalissimo and former Field Marshal. He first entered military service in 1788 and fought against the Turks. During the French Revolutionary War, he fought on the allied side against France and in that period rose through the ranks of the Imperial Army.

Joseph II, Holy Roman Emperor 1741-1790

Joseph II (Josef Benedikt Anton Michael Adam) was the 43rd Holy Roman Emperor from 18 August 1765 and sole ruler of the Habsburg monarchy from 29 November 1780 until his death. He was the eldest son of Empress Maria Theresa and her husband, Emperor Francis I, and the brother of Marie Antoinette, Leopold II, Maria Carolina of Austria and Maria Amalia, Duchess of Parma. He was thus the first ruler in the Austrian dominions of the union of the Houses of Habsburg and Lorraine, styled Habsburg-Lorraine.

Archduchess Marie Valerie of Austria & Archduke Franz Salvator

Archduchess Marie Valerie Mathilde Amalie of Austria 1868 -1924 was the youngest child of Emperor Franz Joseph I and Empress Elisabeth of Austria. She was usually called Valerie.
On 31 July 1890, she married Archduke Franz Salvator of Austria 1866-1939 the marriage caused a rift between her and her siblings as their marriages had to be dynastic, while Marie Valerie’s was, as Empress Elisabeth allowed, for love and desire.
