Was in the service of Leopold I as a lieutenant field marshal in 1673. In the war against France he was able to achieve a number of successes, e.g. 1673 in the siege of Bonn , 1676 in the capture of the fortress of Philippsburg (As shown) and the capture of Saarbrücken the following year.
