Czech-born American stage actress. Arrived in the United States in 1867 and first performed at the Academy of Music in New York City, on October 9, 1867, managed by Max Maretzek. She spoke no English, only German and often worked with all English speaking casts.

Humprecht Jan Czernin 1628-1682


Humprecht Jan Czernin was the Habsburg imperial ambassador to Venice and Rome. He was appointed ambassador of King Leopold in Venice in 1659.
Humprecht died at the castle in Kosmonosy on 3 March 1682 at the age of 54 years. He was buried in the chapel of St. Vitus Cathedral in Prague, but his heart was placed in a tin box and placed in the Czernin Chapel of the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in Stará Boleslav. The Czernin Palace was commissioned by him in the 1660s. He had also the Humprecht Castle in Sobotka built, named after him. It was built as his summer house and hunting castle in 1666–1668.

John Zizka of Trocnov 1360-1424

Jan Žižka z Trocnova a Kalicha (English: John Zizka of Trocnov and the Chalice;  was a Czech general who was a contemporary and follower of Jan Hus and was a Radical Hussite and led the Taborites. Žižka was a successful military leader and is now a Czech national hero. He was nicknamed “One-eyed Žižka”, having lost one and then both eyes. Jan Žižka led Hussite forces against three crusades and never lost a single battle although he was completely blind in his last stages of life.

General Josef Baron von Kronenberg

Josef Kronenberg moved to Kunín from Hungary together with his doctor father. After the sudden death of his wife, Josef was taken in by Countess Walburga and entrusted to the care of her teacher and later guardian Anton Schneider. At fourteen, Josef let himself be recruited into the army, but against the wishes of Countess Walburga. He therefore preferred to return to Kunín as a lieutenant of the hunting battalion, and since then his career has risen steeply. He eventually became a general of the gendarmerie and a holder of the baronial title.

Michael Johann von Althann 1679-1722

Johann Michael was a member of the noble Althann family, son of Michael Johann von Althann and his wife Princess Maria Theresa of Liechtenstein. Inducted into the court, he became imperial chamberlain, privy councilor and finally, from 1716 to 1722, Oberststallmeister on behalf of Emperor Charles VI of the Holy Roman Empire. Although he had not held high-profile positions at court, his figure was particularly significant and had considerable influence as the emperor’s favourite.
