Paris Lodron 1586-1653

Was the Prince-Archbishop of the Prince-Archbishopric of Salzburg from 1619-1653. He was born 13 February 1586 in the Castelnuovo di Noarna, in Nogaredo, Trentino. He was the son of Count Nicolò Lodron (1549-1621) (a scion of the branch of the noble Italian family Lodron from Trentino called the Vallagarina or Castelnuovo-Castellano line), an imperial colonel and governor of the County of Tyrol; and his wife Dorothea von Welsperg.

Margaret Theresa of Spain was, by marriage to Leopold I, Holy Roman Empress, German Queen, Archduchess of Austria and Queen of Hungary and Bohemia. She was the daughter of King Philip IV of Spain and the elder full-sister of Charles II, the last of the Spanish Habsburgs. She is the central figure in the famous Las Meninas by Diego Velázquez, and the subject of many of his later paintings.

Eleonore was born in Düsseldorf, Holy Roman Empire, on the night of 6 January 1655. She was the oldest of 17 children born from Philip William, Count Palatine of Neuburg and Duke of Jülich-Berg and his second wife, Landgravine Elisabeth Amalie of Hesse-Darmstadt. On her father’s side her grandparents were Wolfgang Wilhelm, Count Palatine of Neuburg and his first wife, Magdalene of Bavaria. On her mother’s side, her grandparents were George II, Landgrave of Hesse-Darmstadt and Sophia Eleonore of Saxony.
