Albert II, King of Germany 1397-1439

Albert II was King of Germany from 1438 to 1439. A member of the House of Habsburg, he became Duke of Austria by inheritance. Following the death of his father-in-law, Sigismund, Holy Roman Emperor, Albert became King of Hungary, Croatia, and Bohemia and gained a claim to the Duchy of Luxembourg

Pierre de Gondi, 1533-1616. Cardinal, Bishop of Paris

Born in Lyon, he was a brother of Albert de Gondi (two of whose sons, Henri and Jean-François, succeeded Pierre as bishop of Paris) and a protégé of Catherine de Médicis. In turn, he became bishop of Langres (1565), bishop of Paris (1570), chancellor and grand almoner to Elisabeth of Austria, wife of Charles IX of France.

Pope Benedict XIII, born Pietro Francesco Orsini and later called Vincenzo Maria Orsini, was head of the Catholic Church and ruler of the Papal States from 29 May 1724 to his death in February 1730. A Dominican friar, Orsini focused on his religious responsibilities as bishop rather than on papal administration.

Michael Adolf von Althann, alternatively written Altheimb, Austrian military commander and diplomat. He particularly distinguished himself in the Long Turkish War, at Székesfehérvár and Esztergom. At the end of the war he was appointed field marshal. On 14 June 1610 he was made an Imperial Count.
