Joseph I, Holy Roman Emperor 1678-1711

Joseph I (Joseph Jacob Ignaz Johann Anton Eustachius; 1678-1711) was Holy Roman Emperor and ruler of the Habsburg monarchy from 1705 until his death in 1711. He was the eldest son of Leopold I, Holy Roman Emperor from his third wife, Eleonor Magdalene of Neuburg. Joseph was crowned King of Hungary at the age of nine in 1687 and was elected King of the Romans at the age of eleven in 1690. He succeeded to the thrones of Bohemia and the Holy Roman Empire when his father died.

Ferdinand Joseph, Prince of Dietrichstein 1628-1698

Ferdinand Joseph, Prince of Dietrichstein was a German prince member of the House of Dietrichstein, 3rd Prince (Fürst) of Dietrichstein zu Nikolsburg, Princely Count (gefürsteter Graf) of Tarasp, Baron (Freiherr) of Hollenburg, Finkenstein and Thalberg; in addition, he served as Lord Chamberlain (Obersthofmeister), Conference Minister (Konferenzminister) and Privy Councilor (Geheimrat) of Emperor Leopold I, and Knight of the Order of the Golden Fleece since 1668. Ferdinand Joseph married  Princess Marie Elisabeth of Eggenberg 1640-1715, eldest child and only surviving daughter of Johann Anton I, Prince of Eggenberg, Duke of Krumau and Princely Count (gefürsteter Graf) of Gradisca and his wife, Margravine Anna Maria of Brandenburg-Bayreuth. Thanks to his marriage (who related him with the House of Hohenzollern) and the unions of his siblings with members of the first noble families of the Habsburg monarchy (including the Houses of Auersperg, Kaunitz, Liechtenstein, Lobkowitz, Montecuccoli, Trauttmandsorff and Schwarzenberg),

Frederick III 1415–1493 Holy Roman Emperor

Frederick III was Holy Roman Emperor from 1452 until his death in 1493. He was the penultimate emperor to be crowned by the pope, and the last to be crowned in Rome. He was the fourth King of the Romans and the first Holy Roman Emperor from the House of Habsburg, who was to retain the title with one gap until it was declared at an end by Emperor Francis II, in 1806.

United States World War II Victory Medal 1946

The World War II Victory Medal was awarded for service between 7 December 1941 and 31 December 1946, both dates inclusive, with no minimum time in service requirement.

Bronze medal is 1 1⁄2 inches in width. The obverse is a figure of Liberation standing full length with head turned to dexter looking to the dawn of a new day, right foot resting on a war god’s helmet with the hilt of a broken sword in the right hand and the broken blade in the left hand, the inscription WORLD WAR II placed immediately below the centre. On the reverse are inscriptions for the Four Freedoms: FREEDOM FROM FEAR AND WANT and FREEDOM OF SPEECH AND RELIGION separated by a palm branch, all within a circle composed of the words UNITED STATES OF AMERICA 1941 1945.

Circular silver medal with laterally-pierced barrel-shaped (belière à l’olive) suspension; the face with a helmeted female head representing the French Republic, inscribed ‘REPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE’, signed ‘DANIEL DUPUIS’ (for the great French medallist and sculptor Jean-Baptiste Daniel-Dupuis 1849-1899), all within a circular laurel wreath; the reverse inscribed with the battles ‘SONTAY, BAC-NINH, FOU-TCHEOU, FORMOSE, TUYEN-QUAN, PESCADORES’ encircled by the inscription ‘TONKIN CHINE ANNAM 1883-1885’ within a laurel wreath, with Paris Mint cornucopia silver assay mark;  on correct ribbon with original pin 

The medal was instituted on 6 September 1885 for the soldiers of the Expeditionary Corps led by General Millot who took part in the operations in Tonkin (now Vietnam), China and Annam during the years 1883 to 1885 that terminated with the Treaty of Tien-Tsing with China. These troops included elements of the Foreign Legion, Marine Infantry Regiments, Algerian Tirailleurs, Zouaves, Spahis and African Chasseurs.
