Caspar Zdenko von Capliers, 1611-1686

Capliers was the son of the appellate councilor Albrecht Ritter von Capliers († 1614) and Magdalena von Udritsch (Magdalena z Údrče). After his father’s early death, his grandfather Caspar Ritter von Capliers took over the upbringing. He was taken prisoner as a participant in the Bohemian Uprising of 1618 and was beheaded on June 21, 1621 and his assets confiscated. The mother then fled to relatives and Caspar Zdenko became an imperial officer. In 1632 he inherited the Ober-Koblitz (Horní Chobolice) estate from a cousin. In 1642 he achieved the rank of colonel sergeant, in 1646 lieutenant colonel and a year later he was promoted to commander of eight companies of cuirassiers. In 1649 he received the patent for a regiment of cavalry. With the regiment he fought for the Spanish against the French in the Milan area. .
