Andreas Hofer 1767-1810

Andreas Hofer was a Tyrolean innkeeper and drover, who in 1809 became the leader of the Tyrolean Rebellion against the revolutionary Napoleonic invasion during the War of the Fifth Coalition. He was subsequently captured and executed.

Charles V, Duke of Lorraine 1643-1690

Charles V, Duke of Lorraine and Bar succeeded his uncle Charles IV, Duke of Lorraine as titular Duke of Lorraine and Bar in 1675; both duchies were occupied by France from 1634 to 1661 and 1670 to 1697. Born in exile in Vienna, Charles spent his military career in the service of the Habsburg monarchy.

Charles, Archduke of Austria 1771-1847

Archduke Charles Louis John Joseph Laurentius of Austria, Duke of Teschen ( Erzherzog Karl Ludwig Johann Josef Lorenz von Österreich, Herzog von Teschen) was an Austrian field-marshal, the third son of Emperor Leopold II and his wife, Maria Luisa of Spain. He was also the younger brother of Francis II, Holy Roman Emperor. He was epileptic, but achieved respect both as a commander and as a reformer of the Austrian army. He was considered one of Napoleon’s more formidable opponents and one of the greatest generals of the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars.
